Anne E. Bickford

School Committee Vice-Chairperson

Anne and her husband Allen Marshall have lived in Bedford since 1994. They are the parents of three children, one who is in 12th grade at Bedford High School, one who is a 2008 BHS graduate attending Clark University as a freshman and one who is a 2006 BHS graduate attending Wesleyan University (CT) as a senior.

Anne was elected to her first term on the School Committee in March 2001. She is currently serving as a School Committee liaison to the Finance Committee, and as a member of the Strategic Communications Task Force that is seeking ways to increase the funding Bedford receives for the education of military students. She is also serving on the Graduation Requirements Committee that is reviewing Bedford's local graduation requirements. She has served previously as the liaison to the Capital Expenditures Committee, Youth and Family Services Committee, Fiscal Planning and Coordinating Committee, and was a member of the School's Strategic Planning Committee. Prior to her election to the School Committee, Anne served on the School's Transportation Safety Committee, and assisted the School Committee in rewriting the contract and procurement specifications for the School's Bus System. In addition, she served on the Superintendent's Gifted/Talented Task Force (1997/98), as the FINCOM observer for BEST/PTO (1997 - 2000) and served for two years on the John Glenn Middle School's Advisory Council (1999/00 and 2000/01.)

Anne graduated from public High School in Ridley, Pennsylvania, and holds a Bachelor's degree in Geography from Penn State University and a Master's Degree in Transportation from M.I.T. She has worked for over twenty-five years in the field of public and private transportation in Boston during which time she has been directly responsible for the direction of staff and the management of operating budgets that exceed 5000 people/$250 million per year.
