The June 2007 update to the Strategic Plan represents the progress we have made to date on the goals that were set forth in January 2006. Since that date, the residents of Bedford have enabled the schools to make great progress including the start of the long awaited Bedford High School Addition/Renovation Project in the spring of 2006, the implementation of new programs such as the Grade 9 Level 3 Skills curriculum, and continuation of a broad-based program which includes Foreign Language, Music and Arts programming available in all of the schools. The approval of a new system software X 2 in the spring of 2007 has now set the stage for increased electronic communication with parents and improved access to students’ academic progress over time. The 2006-2011 Strategic Plan for the Bedford Public Schools represents the work of a broad-based Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) appointed by the Bedford School Committee in May 2004. This plan was approved by the School Committee on January 10, 2006.
The purpose of the SPC was to prepare a plan that articulates the mission, vision, and values of the Bedford Public Schools and sets forth an action plan for a five-year period. The broad-based 16 member SPC consisted of residents, parents, school administrators, town officials, and school committee members from the Bedford community.
